In 2018 the RSPCA rescued and collected more than 102,900 animals that were left abandoned or were subject to mistreatment. The challenge is to create a friendly and welcoming website that shows how much character rescue animals have to offer to encourage people away from pedigree-bred pets.
Using a comic strip format along with illustrations and a sympathetic warm palette, the aim is to convey story and character; the idiosyncrasies of an animal who has perhaps had a tough life but still has loads of love to give. Both typefaces are full of distinct character too; one playful, energetic and dog-like, and the other more elegant and cat-like (although I speak from experience when I say that cats aren't always as elegant as they think they are).
